TITLE: Community Integration Counselor (CIC)
REPORTS TO:
Executive Director, Director of Programs and Supervisor
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Part Time
LOCATION:
NYC, Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island Regions
ROLE:
Our community integration counseling services in Kings County, New York, are an individually designed intervention to assist our clients experiencing problems in managing the emotional responses to a physical or cognitive disability while living in the community. It is a counseling service provided to our clients who are coping with altered abilities and skills, a revision of long-term expectations, or changes in roles concerning their significant others. This service is primarily provided in our office or the client’s home. It is available to our clients and/or anyone involved in an ongoing significant relationship with them when the issues to be discussed relate directly to them. This service will be conducted on a short-term basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Persons employed as a Community Integration Counselor must be a/an:
- Licensed Psychiatrist (licensed by the NYS Education Department);
- Licensed Psychologist (licensed by the NYS Education Department);
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW- licensed by the NYS Education Department);
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW- licensed by the NYS Education Department);
- Individual with a Doctorate degree in Psychology;
- Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (Licensed by NYS Education Department);
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
(Certified as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification);
AND
Must have, at a minimum, two (2) years of experience providing adjustment related counseling to individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries, disabilities and injuries

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing necessary services as required for the participant.
- Assess the participants and evaluate progress with supervisor.
- Collaborate with all disciplines to plan and evaluate goals for each participant.
- Utilizing a variety of techniques and treatment plans.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures when providing services to participants.
- Observe and report participant progress.
- Completion and submission of weekly progress notes, Individual service reports & Detailed Goal Plans
- Participate in Team Meetings
